Hello there, my name is Fred Green for those of you that don't know, 20 years old, 3rd year student at UCLAN in preston, studying psychology, but really, studying how to win money at low stakes MTT's and SNGs hehe! I have been playing poker for 4 years now, i am the chairman of my University's poker league, and have organised home games frequently for the past 3 years.
My game of choice, is the ever popular "cadillac of poker" No Limit Texas Hold'em. I also play a lot of mixed games, such as Pot Limit Omaha, Omaha 8 or better, Razz, 7 card Stud and Blackjack. I am mainly a tournament player, playing buy ins that range from $3 to $30 depending on bankroll and current level of tilt! I also frequent the online sit and go tables, my favourite game being $6 6max turbo sit and goes, last year my ROI was generally around the 30-40% range, and earned me a lot of money online to fund tournaments and casino trips.
Over this summer i have played roughly 125 online multi table tournaments, have cashed in around 40, won 2, and made 5 final tables. All in all i should return to Uni in september with aroun $400 summer profit from tournaments alone, which if offered at the start of summer i would have taken. Although not ideal, two chances at winning tournaments i blew, finishing 3rd and 2nd costing me roughly $130 extra profit. My main personal achievements however, were cashing in a range of games. Long before i found Texas Hold'em i was a frequent gamer and enjoyed many card games, i therefore class myself as a poker player, not simply a texas hold em player, this summer i have made final tables, in hold em, omaha, razz and HORSE (a mix of five games) and have won hold'em and razz tournamens, cementing in my mind that i am capable of playing other games but hold'em.
Over these blogs i will continue to record noticable results, but also bring to the floor many important hands/events that i encounter at the table, and put only the hands up for discussion, but also the way i played them myself, i am quite a humble player, and am always keen to improve, and feel i do so after every poker based conversation i have, and after every trip to the felt.
My aims going into the new university year are quite simple, to cash in a stud tournament on the internet, and to win a casino tournament. I have proven to myself that i can cut it at a live tournament level, either tournaments or sit and goes at home games, but i still have not a cash to my name in a casino tournament, a monkey that personally i NEED to get off my back, as i believe the level of play to be substandard and a poor representation of the game.
As of now i have nothing to report, but after a few weeks at uni and a few live tournaments underway i will continue to post, and put some topics out there for discussion!
Thanks for reading, Fred :)
